Hasina greets Cameron

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday greeted her new British counterpart David Cameron expecting the historic and warm ties between the two countries to strengthen further during his tenure. “Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have long historic bonds of friendship which, I believe, will be further expanded in the days ahead during your term as the Prime Minister of your country,” she said in a in a statement. Hasina pointed out that both the countries were ardent supporter of democracy while she expressed Bangladesh's interest in working together with London for the promotion of democracy. She also expected expanded Dhaka-London cooperation in the fields of politics, economic, trade and investment, cultural, and social development. “I look forward to closer engagement between Bangladesh and the UK in a wider range of potential areas of cooperation and I am confident that during your term of office the existing cooperation between the two countries both in the bilateral and multilateral domains will intensify further,” Hasina said.
