Rab-criminals gunfight

Three separate gunfights between Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members and criminals left three people injured in the city in the last two days. The three criminals are Sirajul Islam, 30, and Monirul Islam, 26, and Mohammad Jilani, 44. Rab-3 officials said Sirajul was arrested with bullet wounds after a gunfight at Balurmath in Mohanagar Project around 2:00am yesterday. According to Rab officials, when a Rab team challenged the gang of criminals, they opened firing at the law enforcers forcing them to retaliate with gunshots. At one stage, the criminals ran away, leaving Sirajul injured. Rab officials said they also seized a pistol from his possession. Another gunfight took place at Banashree Project on early Tuesday as another gang of criminals made a gun attack on the Rab personnel after they challenged the criminals. Rab officials said Monirul was also arrested with bullet wounds in the gunfight while his associates fled, leaving him injured. Meanwhile, Jilani was injured in a gunfight with Rab-10 at Kajlar Par in Jatrabari at around 8:00pm yesterday. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet wound in his right leg.
