KOICA project opens at Bhaluka

A South Korea-sponsored cooperation project styled 'Community Development by Empowerment in Bhaluka' was formally launched at Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh on Monday. Key objectives of the project are to create facilities for vocational and producing training for poor and helpless women. Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide vocational training for next nine months to one year. Lee Jung Wook, resident representative of KOICA in Bangladesh, and Humayun Khalid, director general (DG) of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB), inaugurated the project. Selected 45 women trainees have already started their journey towards empowerment. Sanitary education will also be provided to trainees as part of public awareness. The KOICA representative underscored the importance of skilled manpower and denoted KOICA's intention to share Korea's development experience for the development of Bangladesh.
