8 houses gutted in Ctg

Eight houses were gutted in a fire in the city's Chandgaon area on Wednesday night. Sources said the fire originated from gas cylinder leakage at the house of one Hamid Jaminder Bari of Madhyam Mohora of Kalurghat heavy industrial area around 9:30pm. The fire spread fast and gutted six semi-pucca and two thatched houses. Three fire fighting units extinguished the fire after a two-hour efforts at around 11:30pm. Properties worth over Tk 20 lakh were damaged in the fire, said the sources in Fire Service Agrabad station.
