Road crashes kill seven
At least seven people were killed and 25 others injured in separate road accidents in Madaripur, Magura, Satkhira and Brahmanbaria in last two days.
A correspondent from Madaripur says: Two people were killed when a speeding bus hit their motorbike near Shanerpar in Rajoir upazila here yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dulal Khalashi, 35, a fertiliser trader of Makkar village of the upazila and Tapan Dey, 40, a sales manager of Aftab Group and hailed from Gazipur.
Witnesses said the accident took place about 9:15am when Dulal and Tapan were going to Tekerhat from Shadhur Bridge of the district on business purpose.
Dulal died on the spot while Tapan succumbed to his injuries on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Our correspondent from Magura reports: Two people were killed in separate road accidents on Magura-Faridpur highway at Belnagar village and on Magura-Jhenidah highway near Chhoto bridge in Magura sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Wahiduzzaman, 45, of Kashinathpur village in Magura municipality and the other was a mentally challenged woman aged about 30. Identity of the woman could not be known immediately.
Police quoting witnesses said the woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a Magura-bound speeding truck in Belnagar area around 10:00pm.
Wahiduzzaman was injured seriously when a Jhenidah-bound speeding truck knocked him down on Magura-Jhenidah highway. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Magura Sadar hospital.
Our correspondent from Satkhira: Two motor cycle riders, including a retired school teacher, were killed in a road accident when a bus hit them on Satkhira-Kaliganj road in Paramberi area under Debhata upazila on Friday evening.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid, 70, son of Didar Ali of village Chandpur in Debhata uazila and Abdul Jalil Par, 42, son of Sohrab Ali Par of village Indranagar in Kaliganj upazila.
Quoting local people police said motor cycle rider Jalil died on the sot while Hamid was injured seriously.
Hamid succumbed to his injuries on the way to Satkhira Sadar hospital.
Our correspondent from Brahmanbaria adds: One woman was killed and 25 others were injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch of Nabinagar-Companiganj Road at Bhulachang village under Nabinagar upazila on Friday night.
The dead was identified as Halima Begum, 35, of Jalla village in Nabinagar pourasabha.
Witnesses and police said the accident occurred when a Nabinagar upazila-bound local bus loaded with 45 passengers from Companiganj turned upside down and fell into a roadside ditch at Bhulachang turning point as its driver lost his control over the steering.
One Halima Begum, 35, died on the spot and 25 passengers were injured.
Of the injured, 13 were rushed to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex and 12 to local Ahmed Medical Centre.
