Lawyer murdered in Gazipur

Police recovered the slaughtered body of a lawyer from behind a graveyard in Kathora area in Kaulatia union of Sadar upazila yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Sohel Ur Rahman, 30, son of Md Habibur Rahman of Hatiab village in Sadar upazila. He was a member of Gazipur District Bar Association and practising as a junior lawyer with Advocate Siddiqur Rahman, general secretary of District Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum. His body was sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy Mystery surrounds the death of Sohel. The killing has created a sensation in Gazipur. As the news of his killing spread, people from different strata went to Gazipur Hospital to see the almost beheaded body of the slain lawyer. Local sources said Sohel was missing from Wednesday afternoon after he had left his house. People of Kathora informed the matter when they found the body yesterday. When contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Joydebpur Police Station Abdur Rashid said Sohel was slaughtered but could not say reason behind the killing. On the other hand Advocate Siddiqur Rahman said the miscreants killed Sohel in a planned way. Police have launched an investigation into the murder.
