Ban on meeting at Paltan Maidan

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on any kinds of meeting at Paltan Maidan and in its adjacent areas in the city from midnight tonight for an indefinite period. DMP Commissioner AKM Shahidul Hoque has imposed the ban to avert any untoward incidents, as both Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Jubo League called meetings at Paltan Maidan on May 31, Assistant Commissioner Shyamol Mukherjee said. The ban will remain in force until further order in this regard, he added.
