Delwar warns of non-stop protest

BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday threatened to launch a non-stop protest programme if the government creates any obstacles to June 27 hartal programme. “We will be forced to declare a non-stop protest programme if obstacles to hartal are created,” he said at a discussion at the Engineers Institution auditorium in the city. Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia was present but did not address the meeting organised by the party on the occasion of the death anniversary of president Ziaur Rahman. Delwar assured the party chairperson that the party will make the hartal a success, saying that the people have trust in the leadership of Khaleda. Party leaders Moudud Ahmed, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Rafiqul Islam Mian, Nazrul Islam Khan, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, Shawkat Mahmud, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among others, also spoke. Moudud Ahmed, also a former law minister, said the Awami League government will not be able to restore the 1972 constitution.
