JMB chief, two others on fresh remand

Court Correspondent
Two members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) told an investigation officer (IO) that all their activities were running under the leadership of its chief Maulana Saidur Rahman before his arrest. Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, also the IO of the case, said this yesterday while producing Saidur and his accomplices before the court with a nine-day remand prayer. The two others are Abdullahel Kafi and his wife Ayesha Akhter. The court, however, granted them a five-day remand for each of them after they were produced before it on completion of their six-day remand. In his forwarding report, Mahbub said two JMB leaders -- military wing coordinator Amir Hossain alias Sharif and full-time member Nur Hossain alias Sabuj, arrested from Narayanganj and now on a seven-day remand, said Saidur is their leader and all their activities were conducted under his leadership. Moreover, Saidur, Abdullahel and his wife had given important information about their subversive activities across the country. So, they need to be remanded to find out more vital clues about future mission, the IO said. Police arrested the JMB chief, a female member and three other top leaders from the city and Narayanganj on January 24 and early January 25.
