Implementation a big challenge for govt

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said implementation of the National Education Policy is a big task as well as a challenge for the government. He said the new policy has been accepted warmly by all, including the opposition party and alems and ulemas (religious scholars). "No protest was raised about the policy after the cabinet approved it," he added. The minister was speaking at a view exchange meeting with members of the education policy formulation committee at International Mother Language Institute in the city organised by the education ministry. Nahid thanked members of the committee for formulating the policy. He said they have framed the policy on the basis of opinions of all and national consensus. He urged all to come forward to help implement the education policy for building a new generation. Prof Kabir Chowdhury, chairman of the committee, demanded immediate implementation of the policy. Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Ameen, State Minister Motahar Hossain and Education Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman were present at the programme.
