While Adabar police are about to submit charge sheet of six-year-old Samiul killing case, paternal relatives of the boy rejected police probe and demanded that the case is handed over to CID. Sub-inspector (SI) Kazi Shahan, investigation officer of the case, said they were preparing charge sheet accusing only Samiul's mother Ayesha Humayra's paramour Shamsuzzaman Bakku alias Arif. Police are yet to be certain about the involvement of other people in the killing, he said, adding, "If Humayra or anyone else is found involved, they will be implicated later," said the SI. Meanwhile, Samiul's father KR Azam lodged a general diary on July 11 in connection with receiving threats on his life. KR Azam told The Daily Star, "We suspect that some unscrupulous policemen are focusing only on Bakku to save other suspects who helped and provided shelter to Bakku and his second wife Sathi." According to Azam and his relatives, abduction of a child, baby-sitting it for 30 hours, killing it and then dumping the body are too much for one person. They also asked police about the Tongi den where Bakku hid the boy and sleeping pills used to make the boy unconscious, but police could not come up with any answer. At this moment Azam broke into tears, as yesterday was Samiul's sixth birthday. He said when Samiul was kidnapped in June last year, police refused to file a case against Bakku and Sathi and forced Azam to lodge a general diary. "In the GD, I mentioned that Humayra assisted Bakku and Sathi in abducting Samiul," said Azam, adding, "But when I got my son back, police did not take any action against them as Bakku and Sathi had understanding with some of the policemen." Denying the allegation Tejgaon division Deputy Commissioner of police Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir said, "As Azam did not continue communication with police, we did not go for further action." Azam's brother Sadrul Amin Habib said, "We disagree with much information given by Bakku, but police are paying no heed to that. We are now trying to meet the inspector general of police (IGP) seeking his consent to handover the case to CID to get to the truth and ensure punishment to those involved in the killing." He alleged that police has concluded the probe based on Bakku's statement and without producing any witness or supporting witness. Since his arrest, Bakku gave four different statements to mislead the investigation and hide the motive of the killing. He made two contradictory statements before the court on June 29 and July 7. In his confessional statement on July 7, Bakku said he alone killed Samiul 30 hours after the abduction. Samiul went missing from house on June 22. His body was found in a sack left near to their residence at Naboday housing in Adabar on June 24. That night the boy's father filed a case with Adabar Police Station accusing his wife Humayra, her paramour Shamsuzzaman alias Bakku and some unknown people.
