Anne sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday sent BNP lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annee to jail, rejecting his bail petitions in four ceases out of five filed against him. Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ali Hussain issued the order after Shahbagh police produced him before the court and appealed for sending him to jail. Annee was arrested on charge of engaging in violent activities in the capital's Shahbagh area during the June 27 general strike called by the main opposition BNP.
