Leaders of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) at a meeting at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) yesterday urged the government for immediate trial of war criminals. BMA leaders said it is impossible to establish a prosperous, non-communal and democratic Bangladesh without bringing the anti-liberation forces to book. “People of the country want speedy trial of the war criminals and we hope the government will complete the trial process immediately," said Mahmud Hasan, president of BMA adding that they would strengthen the movement to eliminate the war criminals from the country. Speakers said the military government, after the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, rehabilitated the collaborators, who are conspiring to establish fundamentalism and anarchy in the country. “Our souls will be at rest only after the trial of the nation's silent but active enemies, the war criminals,” said Pran Gopal Datta, vice chancellor of BSMMU. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Shahidullah and Treasurer Moazzem Hossain also spoke at the programme. BMA later brought out a procession from the BSMMU, which paraded different streets of the city and ended at Jatiya Press Club.
