'Plant trees to protect ecology'

Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) launched a countrywide tree plantation programme yesterday to protect environment and maintain ecological balance. Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Maj Gen Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy inaugurated the programme at its headquarter in the city yesterday, said a press release. The Ansar-VDP members will plant 1.77 crore trees across the country under this initiative. Senior officials of the two forces, including Brig Gen ABM Tayeful Islam were present at the inaugural ceremony.
