100pc pass in 714 institutions, none from 25
The number of institutions securing 100 percent pass in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations came down to 714 this year from last year's 755.
However, the record of institutions with zero percent success has been improved as 25 institutions performed the worst this year while the number was 41 last year.
Statistics show that the number of institutions with cent percent success had an increasing trend for the last couple of years but this year it was an exception. Last year, the number was 755 while it was 674 in 2008.
Only 61 colleges under the eight general education boards attained the highest success this year while 546 madrasas and 107 colleges under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board have done well.
Of the 61 successful institutions, fourteen are under Dhaka board while 12 under Rajshahi, five under Comilla, six under Jessore, seven under Chittagong, eight under Barisal, four under Sylhet and five under Dinajpur boards.
Last year, a total of 52 colleges fared well under the eight general education boards while the number was 70 under seven educational boards in 2008.
Three colleges under Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jessore and Barisal boards each, one under Chittagong, five under Dinajpur board, five under madrasa board and two colleges under the technical education board showed the worst result of zero percent success this year.
Comilla and Sylhet boards have achieved the feat of not having a single college with zero pass rate for five consecutive years including this year.
