2 killed in road accidents
Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Chapainawabganj on Thursday night and yesterday morning.
Angry people of Baroghoria blocked the Chapai-nawabganj-Sonamasjid land port highway for about one hour after an elderly man was killed in a road accident in the district.
The deceased was identified as, Altaz Hossain, 62, from Rehaichar area of Chapainawabganj.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station said the accident occurred around 7:30pm, when a Chapai-nawabganj bound truck hit Altaz while he was crossing the road, killing him on the spot.
Vehicular movement on the highway remained suspended for about one hour as the angry people barricaded the highway. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and restored vehicular movement said the OC.
Another road accident killed a man riding a bicycle at Atahar area under Jhilim union yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Bhanu Rabi Das, 45, son of Lalu Sundar Rabi Das of Atahar village.
Locals and police said the accident occurred at around 7:00am, when a Nachole bound truck hit Bhanu while he was crossing the road, killing him instantly.
On information, police recovered and sent both the bodies to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Drivers of both the trucks managed to flee, said police.
