15 injured as villagers clash in C'nawabganj

At least 15 people were injured, five houses burnt and 50 home-made bombs were exploded during a clash between two groups of villagers at Mordana village under Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj yesterday. Police arrested one person identified as, Saifuddin, son of Fazlu from the spot. Sub-Inspector Waheduzzaman of Shibganj police station said the clash began over an extra-marital affairs between Durul, 22, son of Bhogu and his aunt (uncle's wife). Durul assaulted Selim, son of Monglu, as he and Rubel, son of Zillur, of the same area informed the matter to the woman's husband. Selim along with his men also assaulted Durul. At this Durul along with 20 to 25 men equipped with lethal weapons attacked the houses of Selim and his relatives and set fire to the houses at around 12:30pm. Police and locals said at least 15 villagers were injured, five houses were ransacked, looted and torched and 50 home-made bombs were exploded during the clash. On information, police and members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police and Rab forces have been deployed in the area to avoid further clash.
