School girl strangled after gang-rape
A 14-year-old schoolgirl was strangled after gang-rape by spoiled young boys at Ghoshial village in Sreepur upazila yesterday afternoon.
Locals and police said Purnima Samaddar, student of class VIII, was returning home on foot half a kilometer away from Ghoshial High School at about 2:00pm. About five unruly youngsters intercepted her on the way and took her to the nearby jute field. They gang raped the girl and strangled before fleeing the spot.
Some farmers found the body of Purnima and informed the police. Police took the body to the hospital for autopsy.
Her father Manojit Samaddar, a farmer, suspected that the killers hail from the same village and his daughter knew them. He refrained from identifying any of them.
Police said they were looking for the culprits but none was arrested till the evening.
