Nazrul blames PM, minister for train crash
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan yesterday blamed the prime minister and the communication minister for the Sirajganj train accident, as they are the top administrators of railway authority.
“BNP is not responsible at all for the incident as the railway department is under control of prime minister and communication minister,” he said to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of late president Ziaur Rahman with the newly elected leaders of Garments Sramik Dal, a pro-BNP organisation.
Nazrul also ruled out the ruling party leaders' comment that BNP had no permission to hold rally on a rail track. The presence of law enforcers during the rally proves that it was held with due permission, asserted the BNP leader.
The local administration and railway department were informed timely, he said adding, “Now the government is saying that there was no permission for holding the rally, though publicity and campaign were going on at least three days before the rally.”
Replying to a question, Nazrul, also president of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, said anti-government programmes would be announced stage by stage and the like-minded parties will be involved in this process.
He said the government did not ensure treatment of the injured and no compensation was given to the families of the victims, while investigation is going on for burning train compartments.
He demanded the government provide adequate compensation to the families of the victims.
