Farmers to stage demo Thursday
Marginal and landless farmers will stage demonstrations in at least 49 spots of different districts from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm on Thursday to press home their 10-point demand, including ration for them and incorporate them under the Bangladesh labour act.
Bangladesh Khet Majur Samity, a wing of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, announced the programme at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) yesterday.
Other demands include ensuring works for the landless farmers all the year round, free them from micro-credit scheme, resume 100-day employment-generation programme in every upazila, provide them free treatment and free education for their children.
