Probe incidents of stalking
Demands women's rights body
Naripokkho, an organisation working for women rights, yesterday demanded investigation into all incidents relating to stalking, and punishment of the culprits.
A statement, signed by Naripokkho President Tamanna Khan, said stalking has turned into an epidemic form.
Tamanna said a number of girls committed suicide, and some unsolicited incidents took place due to stalking. Very recently a Natore college teacher died after attack by stalkers.
So stern action should be taken against the stalkers to prevent further unwelcome incident, she said, adding that every district and upazila should launch violence prevention programme.
A total of 17,577 incidents of violence occurred in the last six months across the country, and half of them were against women, said the statement.
