Results of public medical colleges published
The results of MBBS admission test for 18 public medical colleges were published yesterday.
For the first time, a combined admission test for both public and private medical colleges was held on October 22. The results have been posted on website 'www.dghs.gov.bd'.
A total of 2,366 students were selected for the public medical colleges, 46 of them under freedom fighters' children quota, 20 under indigenous quota and the rest general students, said Prof Khondakar Md Shefayet Ullah, Director of Medical Education under Directorate General of Health Services.
He also said a total of 3,350 candidates were selected for the private medical colleges and their merit lists will be published within a week.
Four hundred candidates are also selected for waiting list in general seats for the public medical colleges, 10 under freedom fighter quota and eight under indigenous quota. They will get chance on the basis of vacant seats in order of merit.
If any students want to challenge their results, they have to apply for result re-examination within 30 days of the result publication. The last date of the admission is November 15 and the classes will start from January 2011, said Dr Shefayet Ullah.
“After admission, if any students don't want to study, they can apply for cancellation of their admission within 30 days after starting the classes to get back their original marks sheets and certificates of SSC and HSC,” he said.
The interested candidates having TeleTalk phone connections would also be able to find their results through sending short messages by typing 'MISdghs space > college code space >registration no to '9934'.
Candidates for the private medical colleges will also get their merit lists by sending same SMS within a week.
A total of 43,644 candidates competed for seats in 61 public and private medical colleges for the academic year of 2010-2011.
