Sweden sees scopes to raise import
The newly appointed Swedish ambassador in Dhaka yesterday said there exist huge potentials to increase import from Bangladesh and investment here by her country.
Ambassador Ann Margareta (Anneli) said this when she made a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dipu Moni at the foreign ministry yesterday, said a press release.
Ann said Sweden sees huge potentials to increase import from Bangladesh, adding that Swedish investors would like to invest in Bangladesh and provide with advanced technology in renewable energy, especially in solar power.
The foreign minister underlined importance of Swedish cooperation and investment in the shipbuilding, ship recycling, and agro-chemical industries sectors.
The ambassador mentioned the possibilities for more Swedish assistance in the education sector in the form of scholarship and admission opportunities.
Meanwhile, outgoing Italian ambassador Dr Itala Occhi called on the foreign minister at the ministry office yesterday.
During the meeting, Dipu Moni appreciated Italian cooperation in the health sector, hydropower, capacity building in water treatment, and river dredging etc.
The foreign minister sought Italian support on the issues affecting the interest of the LDCs, with particular focus on Bangladesh.
