Our Correspondent, Kushtia
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said a political quarter is trying to create disorder in the country with an aim to save war criminals and its corrupt, self-exiled, and detained leaders. But no conspiracy can protect the war criminals, as Awami League has promised people the trial, he said. ''We have formed tribunal for justice, which will try people accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, torture, rape and murder of civilians.'' Syed Ashraf, also the AL general secretary, was addressing a public meeting at Mirpur upazila football stadium in Kushtia. The upazila unit AL arranged the meeting on the occasion of 4th death anniversary of AL activists Abdur Rahman and Basir Uddin who got killed during BNP regime. Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AL joint secretary and special assistant to the prime minister, spoke as the chief discussant. Hanif said AL does not believe in revenge, claiming that BNP-Jamaat alliance government unleashed terror in this area after it came to power in 2001. BNP-Jamaat killed many AL leaders and activists and harassed them by filing false cases; a large number of AL men had been forced to leave their houses, he added.
