Allow SC Bar president to go abroad, HC asks govt

Staff Correspondent
The High Court yesterday directed the government not to bar Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president, from going abroad. An HC bench of Justice MA Wahhab Miah and Justice Quazi Reza-ul Hoque passed the order following a writ petition filed by the SCBA president. The SCBA president recently filed the petition with the HC seeking direction on the government to allow him to go abroad. In the petition, he said he was apprehensive that he would not be allowed to leave the country as daily Amar Desh in September published a report saying the home affairs ministry had made a list of 70 people loyal to the opposition, and they would be barred from leaving the country. The report identified Khandaker Mahbub as one of them.
