Dispose of cases quickly
Chief Justice urges judges
Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque yesterday urged the senior assistant judges to dispose of cases quickly and pronounce judgements immediately after the hearing.
During a meeting with the judges, he also emphasised making the judicial activities transparent, Md Ashraful Islam, registrar of the Supreme Court, told The Daily Star.
The meeting was held on the premise of the Supreme Court as part of a series of meetings that the chief justice had been holding with judicial officials on every Friday and Saturday of the week.
The chief justice advised the judicial officials to devote their life to the service of the people even within limited facilities.
About 150 senior assistant judges participated in the meeting and raised several problems they were facing in the field level.
The chief justice assured them of taking necessary measures in this regard, the registrar said.
The purpose of the whole endeavour was to bring excellence in the judicial performance, he added.
The chief justice sat with the sub-judges last Friday and with the judicial magistrates on Saturday.
The series of meetings will conclude on November 12.
