BNP Standing Committee Member Khandoker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said stalking is an innovation of the Awami League government. "People like Mizanur Rashid and Chanpa Rani Bhowmik were killed by stalkers. Things like these had happened never before," he said. Mosharraf was addressing a roundtable organised by Nagarik Forum on ''Politics of vengeance, violent streets and future of democracy'' at the National Press Club in the city. It cannot be argued that Awami League is meant by politics of vengeance, said the BNP leader, referring to the Sirajganj train crash that killed six people. "I was present at the public meeting when it happened," he said, "Our men had banners and posters in their hands. So where did the flammable substances come from, used to set the train ablaze?" It is obvious that another party was present there to foil the meeting, he said. "Awami League is making streets violent. They are trying to erase the name of Ziaur Rahman, even refusing to recognise him as a freedom fighter."
