16 addl trains, 200 buses to run ahead of Eid
Advance tickets from Nov 11
Additional 16 trains and 200 buses of BRTA will run on different routes across the country ahead of holy Eid-ul-Azha to ensure easy and safe journey of homebound people.
The sale of advance tickets will begin on November 11. People will be able to collect their tickets through cell phone.
It was decided at a meeting of the communications ministry on transportation management ahead of Eid-ul-Azha at secretariat yesterday.
Representatives of Roads and Railways division were present at the meeting with Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain in the chair.
Official sources said additional 16 trains carrying around 9,500 people will run on different routes across the country. Additional 3-5 compartments will be added with each scheduled train on the eve of Eid.
Mobile courts and surveillance teams involving the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), will be deployed during the period to check black marketing of Eid tickets.
A request letter will be sent to the authorities concerned to keep CNG stations open near Sayedabad, Gabtoli and Mohakhali bus terminals from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
The ministry will organise meeting of the deputy commissioners (DCs), DIG, DMP commissioners and highway police to ensure smooth traffic movement ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
