Agitation at Ctg mayor's office protested
A number of ward councillors of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) here yesterday condemned the confinement of the mayor by members of an outdoor advertisement owners association on Tuesday.
Ward councillors at a meeting yesterday at CCC conference room demanded immediate steps to punish the culprits.
Panel mayor Chowdhury Hasan Mahamud Hasni presided over the meeting with 23 out of the 55 ward councillors present.
Speakers said every government employee has the right to security during office hours but we have failed to ensure security of our employees as well as the mayor's.
Hasni said, “We are very lucky to host a venue for the World Cup in 2011. International Cricket Council and local organisers requested us to turn the city into a more beautiful one.
Ward councillors Jobaida Nargis Khan, Sayed Golam Haider Mintu, Giasuddin, Bijoy Kumar Chowdhury, Advocate Rehena Begum Ranu and Jannatul Ferdous Popy spoke on the occasion.
