Sunday's Clash
ACI files case against over 300
Owners of ACI Pharmaceuticals Ltd filed a case yesterday against 300 to 400 people for ransacking and looting the factory and beating its officials at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.
The case statement says the plunder was going on as ACI workers clashed with police on Sunday. The owners also claimed to have lost property of Tk 40 crore in the incident.
Officer-in-charge SM Badrul Alam of Siddhirganj Police Station said ACI Manager (admin) Awlad Hossain lodged the case against 300 to 400 people with 33 names cited.
In the complaint, Awlad mentioned that the workers attacked and ransacked the factory, as the owners did not agree with their 'illegal' demands.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal of Narayanganj unit demonstrated demanding trial of killing a worker, compensation to the injured, and removal of OC Badrul Alam.
A worker of ACI was killed and more than 100 injured in a clash on Sunday that erupted following the workers' demand of pay rise and regularisation of jobs of some others.
