'Criminals better equipped than cops'
Home Minister Sahara Khatun yesterday said police often fail to nab criminals because the latter are more equipped than law enforcement agencies.
She told an event arranged for marking Dhaka Metro Police's 36th founding anniversary at its headquarters on Minto road in the city.
State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku, Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan Shikder, Inspector General of Police Hasan Mahmud Khandker and DMP Commissioner Benzir Ahmed also attended the programme.
“Our first priority is to equip police with modern equipment and necessary logistical support,” she said adding, “The government is thinking of increasing the department's manpower.”
Sahara assured of best efforts to make security arrangements unquestionable during upcoming world cup cricket.
