4 alleged killers of Shahidullah arrested
Police arrested four alleged killers of Mohammad Shahidullah, a trader of Rampura area, who were produced before a press conference held at Rampura Police Station yesterday afternoon in the city.
The arrestees said they committed the murder as they failed to realise extortion from Shahidullah.
The arrestees are Hasan, 18, Arif alias Akash, 22, Omar Faruque, 20, and Mithu, 19.
Police said they arrested the killers from the capital and Shariatpur and recovered a pistol from the possession of Faruque and Mithu.
Police quoting the arrestees said their ringleader Pichchi Zakir staying in Malaysia demanded Tk 5 lakh as extortion from the trader over cell phone.
As Shahidulla denied paying the amount, Zakir ordered his cohort Arif to shoot him dead.
