Balughat playground recovered

50 illegal structures demolished

Dhaka district administration yesterday recovered the Amligola Balughat playground at Lalbagh in the city from land grabbers bulldozing around 50 illegal structures. Executive magistrate of Dhaka district Mohammad Alamin led the drive, started in the morning to recover the playground, which was under possession of the land grabbers since 2003, says a press release of the Save the Environment Movement. Children used to play in the playground and elder people also used the field to do their physical exercises. The prayers of both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha were also being held at the field. Locals demanded the government to recover the field and finally they got the result yesterday. Among others Abu Naser Khan, chairman of Save the Environment Movement, Md Riaz Uddin, chairman of Cristi Parishad, Zakaria Pintu, former national football player and captain of Shwadhin Bangla football team, were present during the drive.
