Health sector brought under tax net
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) yesterday announced Tk 342.59 crore budget for 2011-12 fiscal year bringing the health services sector under the tax net.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton read out the budget at a press conference at Rajshahi Nagar Bhaban's conference room in the afternoon.
Replying to a question, the mayor said, “No new tax is imposed; people of Rajshahi will have to pay the same taxes for health services.”
“We never collected taxes from health sector although we are providing many health related services spending around Tk 5.5 crore annually. If people cooperate paying taxes, we will be able to manage health services better than any previous time.”
