Two mugged in city
Two people fell victim to muggers in front of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while they were out to look for blood for their ailing relative yesterday.
The muggers snatched Tk 2,900 from Md Muhasin, 50, and his cousin Arifur Rahman, 33, of Bhola district, at about 11:00am.
Arifur told The Daily Star, they were asking some people in front of the hospital how they would find three bags of blood for Muhasin's brother Ansar Ali, 35, who was admitted there on Saturday with abdomen pain.
While they were in search of blood, four people came to them saying that Muhasin's leg had touched one of their associate's body and demanded an apology.
“The criminals soon started a quarrel with us. Later, they took us to a remote place in the area and snatched all our money,” Arifur said, adding “They also threatened us at gunpoint not to disclose the matter to anybody.”
Contacted, Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, said that nobody informed them about the incident.
