100kg of cannabis seized: One arrested
Police arrested a drug peddler along with 100 kg of cannabis and seized a microbus from Road No-11 of CDA at Double Mooring in the port city yesterday.
The arrestee is Ismail Parvej, son of Md Ibrahim of Bandar in the city.
Police said acting on a tip-off a team of police led by sub-inspector Mohammd Ali chased a microbus and arrested Parvej with 100 kg of cannabis but two other drug peddlers managed to escape the scene.
The arrestee said the cannabis was brought from another drug peddler Abdul Huque of Mathurapur Bazar in Comilla. They bring 100 kg contraband drugs every week from Comilla, he added.
The drug traders who escaped from the microbus are Zahid of Pachchhim Gosaildanga and Jahangir of Road No 9 of CDA in the port city, Parvej said.
