High govt official succumbs to his burns
A government high official, who was injured in a gas explosion in the city's Mirpur on May 27, succumbed to his burns yesterday.
Md Atiqullah, 38, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, died at a private hospital in the city.
He was earlier admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with 30 percent of his body burnt.
Atiqullah along with six others suffered burn injuries in an explosion, thought to have occurred due to gas leakage, on the first floor of a four-storey building in Mirpur-2.
Of the six injured, four were released after given priamry treatment and two others are still admitted to DMCH burn unit with 30 percent injury.
Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in a press release condoled the death of Atiqullah who was a member to the organisation.
