Two held with fake passports
Two people with fake passports, visas and passport making equipment were arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) from Mohammadia Housing area in the city's Mohammadpur yesterday.
The arrested Roksana Chowdhury, 39, and her brother Alomgir Hossain Babu were making fake passports and visas for the past twelve or more years, said Rayhan Uddin Khan, a senior Additional Superintendent of Police of Rab-2.
Rayhan said they seized around 357 fake passports, 38 visas, a fake seal of passport office, and a bottle containing chemicals during a drive in a flat of the area around 9:45am.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees said some employees and brokers of passport office at Agargaon provided them blank and abandoned passports.
Roksana was arrested in 2000 and 2008 by law enforcers for the same crime and got involved again after being released on bail, he said, adding that Rab was trying to arrest other gang members.
