Bangladeshi wins photo contest
Jashim Salam, an expatriate Bangladeshi hailing from Chittagong, won the first prize for his black and white photograph titled Jute Monster under the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
The award includes a gold medal and DH 20,000 (roughly Tk 4,00,764).
The 6th Emirates Photography Competition 2011 was organised by the UAE's premier government cultural body Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage.
The photo exhibition being held at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi will continue for a week.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Nazmul Quaunine was present at the award-giving ceremony, among others, says a foreign ministry press release.
