Road crashes kill six

Six people were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in Lalmonirhat, Chittagong and Rajbari on Thursday and yesterday. Our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports: A six-year-old baby was killed as a power tiller hit him while he was crossing road at Sarkarerhat village of Patgram upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Emran Ali, son of Latif Miah, of Sarkarerhat village of Patgram upazila. Our staff correspondent from Chittagong says: A man was killed as a Cox's Bazar-bound bus and a Jeep collided head-on in Shah Amanat Bridge area of Bakalia in the port city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Mannan, 25, driver of the Jeep, son of Abdus Salam, of Shikalbaha of Karnaphuli. UNB from Rajbari adds: Four people including two minor siblings were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in the district on Thursday night and yesterday. Police said an unidentified passer-by, aged about 26, died on the spot when a microbus hit him at zero point of Daulatdia ferry ghat yesterday. In another accident, an unidentified tempo passenger was killed and eight others were injured as the tempo and a bus collided head-on on Dualatdia-Khulna highway in Goalanda upazila yesterday. The injured were sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Yet in another incident, two brothers, Rakib, 10, and Rocky, 7, also students of Charpara Shahabuddin Academy, were killed as a speedy truck hit them at Habaspur in Pangsha upazila on Thursday night.
