Court records statement of GP official in Koko's case

A Dhaka court yesterday recorded statement of one more prosecution witness (PW) in a money laundering case against Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Judge Mohammad Mozammel Hossain of the Special Judge's Court-3 recorded statement of Omar bin Harun Khan, additional general manager and head of legal and compliance corporate affairs division, Grameenphone Ltd, Dhaka. The court fixed today for the next hearing. Earlier, the court recorded statements of 17 prosecution witnesses including complainant of the case. Harun in his statement said ACC officer Abu Sayeed asked the Grameenphone authority on February 16 in 2009 to supply name and address of a number holder. After receipt of the letter, the GP authority supplied it on February 24 the same year. The number holder is Ismail Hossain Saimon, son of former shipping minister late Akbar Hossain, also an accused in the case. The ACC filed the case against Koko on March 17, 2009 along with others on charge of laundering money they received from China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd and Siemens for helping them win government contracts.
