Bus burnt as its cylinder explodes
Seven wounded
A night couch was burnt completely as its CNG-run cylinder exploded at Bijul in Birampur upazila yesterday morning.
At least seven people, including driver of the bus and his helper, were wounded in the accident, police said.
The victims are Anwar Hossain, the driver, Belal Hossain, the bus supervisor, Rashid Ali, the helper, Reaz Uddin, Amir Uddin, Ramzan Ali and Nazimuddin.
Anwar Hossain and Rashid Ali were sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital while others were being treated at Birampur Health Complex.
Witnesses said the driver of the Dhaka-bound bus from Dinajpur lost control over the steering on Dhaka-Phulbari highway around 5:50 and the vehicle hit a roadside tree. Around 10 minutes later, the cylinder of the bus exploded with big bang and caught fire.
On information, fire fighters rushed in and doused the fire.
