Police on Monday night arrested three people in connection with the killing of American expatriate Nurul Alam on May 30. They are Mujibur Rahman alias Mujib, 22, son of Alam's brother-in-law and caretaker of his residence, Mujib's friends--Babul Barua and Jewel Barua. Alam, a septuagenarian expatriate was strangulated at his residence at Bayezid Bostami on May 30 evening when the victim was alone in his home. Police recovered the body on that night. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bayezid police station AKM Mohiuddin Selim said the arrestees during primary interrogation confessed that victim's relative Mujib with the help of his friends killed Alam for looting money. Mujib confessed to his involvement in the killing, police said. Talking to journalists at Bayezid Police Station yesterday afternoon Mujib said his friend Munir suggested him looting gold ornaments, cash money and dollar from his uncle's residence. One Munir, a staff of a mobile company, took the decision along with other friends three days before of the killing at Tamanna residential area, said Mujib.
