Wounded deer rescued

Chittagong University (CU) authority yesterday rescued a barking deer that got wounded while trying to free itself from a collapsible gate of CU Shah Amanat Hall. The deer, aged around five years, came from a nearby forest and got stuck while trying to go through one of the gaps of the gate, said campus sources. On information, the hall Provost Prof Md Kalim Uddin Bhuiyan and zoology department Prof Dr Md Farid Ahsan freed the deer and rushed it to Hathazari Veterinary Hospital. After preliminary treatment, the deer was brought back to the campus where it is under the supervision of the department, said Prof Farid. It would be released in the forest as soon as it recovers, he said.
