Shops, tin-shed houses gutted
A fire gutted five shops and four tin-shed houses at Bangla bazaar of Shershah at Bayezid in the port city yesterday.
Witnesses said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of the bazaar and soon engulfed the adjoining shops and tin-shade houses at around 3:00am.
Fire fighters from the Bayezid fire station rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after an hour of efforts with the help of locals.
Fire service sources said the extent of loss could go up to Tk five lakh.
