Ten people were injured yesterday as they jumped off a running train in a collision course with another at Dinajpur Railway Station. Hundreds of passengers escaped tragedy as Dinajpur bound passenger train Kanchan Express from Bochaganj was able to reduce its speed on time before crashing into Ramsagar Express, standing at the station. Sources said the damages were minor as Kanchan Express was driving slowly. The station's Deputy Stationmaster Fakhrul Islam Shahin said he had directed Shirajul Islam, the railway lineman, to change the tracks. Shirajul claimed he did so but the mechanics did not work properly. No inquiry body was formed till filing of this report. Mentionable, two intercity trains came onto the same tracks and nearly collided head-on at Phulbari Railway Station on May 27 but the drivers managed to stop the trains on time. Mysteriously, the railway western zone did not investigate the incident.
