Four held with two bikes
A special team of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested four people of an alleged motorcycle stealing gang and found two stolen motorcycles on Thursday.
The arrestees are Md Shajidul Haque Kawsar, 30, of Rowfobad Colony; Momin Uddin Khaled Raju, 29, of Chandanpua; Md Ramjan Ali, 19, of Supariwala para; and Md Sujan Ali, 22, of Chomohoni Sultan Colony.
At a press conference at Kotwali Police Station yesterday, CMP Deputy Police Commissioner (North) Amena Begum said they began a drive after receiving a motorcycle theft complaint from a reporter of bdnews24.com on Tuesday.
Kawsar and Raju were arrested while trying to steal a motorcycle at Ambagan area of Khulshi. Their information led to the discovery of the motorcycles, nine skeleton keys and the others from Aturar depot area, she added.
Kawsar, claiming to be a masters degree holder from Chittagong College of National University, said they stole and sold at least thirty motorcycles at Tk 10,000 to Tk 30,000 each on the black market in past six months.
Raju, claiming to hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from City College and working in a private organisation, said they stole to pay for their drug addiction.
