Iraqi Ambassador to Bangladesh Shakir Qasem Mahdi Al Kaffaf paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office yesterday and discussed issues of bilateral interests. They also discussed recruitment of Bangladeshi workforce for Iraq. Hasina and Shakir Qasem Mahdi hoped that the existing bilateral relations would be further strengthened in the future. As the ambassador praised Hasina's role for restoring democracy in Bangladesh, she said democracy is a pre-requisite for development of any country. She said without democracy people's socio-economic development can not be achieved. Ambassador-at- Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister M A Karim, Secretary to the PMO Molla Waheeduzzaman and PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad were present during the meeting.
