Build bridges saving environment: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked engineers of Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) to keep in mind the environmental aspects while constructing bridges on rivers.
"You have to construct bridges using such technology that does not hamper natural navigability of rivers and which protects the environment," she said while inaugurating a new website of LGED at Prime Minister's Office in the city.
She said her government is implementing the capital and maintenance dredging project in major rivers to restore their navigability and smooth flow.
Appreciating LGED's efforts for upazila and district mapping, she said it would digitally empower the administration and people to take the right decisions.
Base maps of the country's all upazilas and districts have been installed in the LGED website www.lged.gov.bd/ viewmap.aspx.
