Three commit suicide
Two female domestic helps and a housewife allegedly committed suicide in the city's Mohammadpur, Kamrangir Char and Hazaribagh yesterday.
Police recovered hanging body of domestic help Nargis Akhter, 15, from her employer's house at Bizli Mahalla of Mohammadpur in the morning.
Nargis worked at Anwar Hossain's house in the area. Victim's relatives termed the incident a murder.
Police said Nargis hanged herself from a ceiling fan with her scarf around 11:00am. They recovered the body after breaking open the main gate of the flat as it was locked from outside.
Abdul Hannan, an uncle of the victim, told this correspondent that Nargis requested her parents recently over phone to take her home as her employer Anwar and his wife Mukta Begum used to torture her physically and mentally.
Hannan said Nargis was tortured to death.
Sub-Inspector Shihab Uddin of Mohammadpur Police Station said the girl has committed suicide early yesterday. Residents of the house fled the house in fear, he added.
Meanwhile, police recovered the body of a female domestic help from her employer's house at Ashrafabad of Kamrangirchar.
Rezina Akhter, 18, daughter of Suruj Miah, worked at Samsul Kabir's house in the area.
Police said Rezina committed suicide hanging her from an iron rod with scarf in the rooftop around 8:00am.
A housewife allegedly committed suicide following a quarrel with her husband at their house in the Staff Quarter area of Jigatola of Hazaribagh.
Victim Nadira Zerin Ivy, 23, used to stay at a flat with her husband Shahdat Hossain.
Police said Zerin hanged herself from a ceiling fan with her scarf at night.
